Lincoln Academy PTO Minutes:
Tuesday, August 25, 2009 — 6:30 p.m. in the Library
- Call to order - LAPTO Vice President April Bates called the meeting to order at 6:30pm.
- I.Introductions were made and there were 20 members present including PTO Vice President April Bates, Secretary Dana Frerich, Volunteer Coordinator Michelle Richey, and Treasurer Bernadette Templeton.
- Andrew Fries was introduced and reported about the online system that he created for logging volunteer hours. After a brief demonstration he announced that the system will be up on the Lincoln Academy website soon. The LAPTO Board expressed their gratitude for his hard work.
- The minutes from the May 2009 PTO meeting were read. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to approve the minutes as read with one minor change.
- Reports of Officers
- Treasurer’s Report- Bernadette Templeton presented the monthly report of the PTO’s accounting from the month of May 2009. She also presented the proposed budget for the 2009-2010 school year. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to approve the budget for this year.
- Vice-President’s Report- April Bates reported that the Spring Assembly will be Dom Testa in February and it will be for middle school only. She also mentioned that we will be looking into doing something different in place of US on Wheels Skate Night this year.
- Volunteer Coordinator’s Report- Michelle Richey reported that she is still looking for volunteers to serve lunches and help with morning traffic duty.
- LA Board of Directors member Susan Davis reported that the gym will have a new roof put in that will include natural lighting. The LA Board of Directors underwent some changes, and approved two new members over the summer. Doug Neely is a new board member and Jim Cherrington will be an adjunct member. - Reports of committees
- Grandparents’ Day - Mrs. Johnson announced that Grandparents’ Day will be postponed until January 15th due to construction on the gym roof. Kim McKinney reported that the Book Fair dates will be changed as well, but the dates will not coordinate with Grandparents’ Day.
- Welcome Committee - Kristi Geisz reported that the event went well and was well attended. She thanked Mrs. McKinney for offering the Library as a meeting space for afternoon kindergarten because the community room was in use.
- Harvest Festival - April Bates reported that Mrs. Ullman is helping with the Music Man theme for the parade. The parade will be on Saturday September 12th and the next committee meeting will be on Monday August 31st after school.
- 5th Grade Fundraising - Mitzi Lewis reported that the 5th grade fundraisers will be Gold C/Entertainment books, Butter Braids, and Otis Spunkmeyer cookie dough.
- Boxtops/Campbell’s Soup Labels - Kristy Patrick reported that she will be holding a classroom contest to collect Boxtops and Campbell’s Soup labels. The winning classrooms will be awarded a travelling trophy.
- New Business
- Volunteer Night - Miss Christy Goodman reported that she would like to have a night where parents can come and work on projects for teachers. They would like to have it in September and request that this be an adults only event.
- T-shirt swap - Dana Frerich asked if there was interest in having a t-shirt swap of Lincoln Academy shirts. Instead there seemed to be an interest in another t-shirt sale this year.
- >Ice skating night - Dana Frerich is looking into having an ice skating night at the APEX Center. Date and details will be coming soon.
- Announcements
- All Lincoln Academy parents/guardians are welcome and encouraged to attend the following meetings:
- The next LA Board Meeting September 14, 2009 @ 6:30pm.
- The next PTO Meeting is september 15, 2009 @ 6:30pm
- The Starbucks Gift Card was awarded to Sarah Forsyth. Congratulations!
- ILAPTO Vice President April Bates adjourned the meeting at 7:52pm.
