- Reports of Officers
-
President’s Report- April Bates reported that Treasurer Bernadette Templeton is sick and her absence is excused. The Online Volunteer Log is still experiencing problems. Please continue to keep paper logs and be careful to fill in all of the date fields when attempting to log hours. She also reported that the teachers have each received $115 for classroom enrichment. There will be some new updates and changes to the PTO tab of the Lincoln Academy website. There will be another Volunteer Night this spring. We are considering providing child care during PTO Meetings to encourage attendance by families that may not otherwise be able to attend.
-
Vice President’s Report- Suzanne Gdovic reported that there is a LAPTO Communication drawer in the Parent Corner. There are labeled file folders for each LAPTO Board member as well as for each committee. She also presented documents with updated procedures for volunteers. We are looking for 4th grade parents to coordinate next year’s 5th grade fundraising for Outdoor Lab. Finally Terri Nedele has been working on soliciting donations for prizes for our upcoming events.
-
Secretary’s Report- Dana Frerich presented the changes to the Governing Documents and informed the membership that there will be a vote to approve the changes to the documents at the February PTO meeting. Please take the time to review these so that we can approve them next month.
-
Volunteer Coordinator’s Report- Michelle Richey reported that Marina Bowers will chair the Spring Event. There are 2 volunteers for Lakeside Night. The tentative date for that event is Wednesday May 26, 2010. Our volunteer hours are down greatly from this time last year. It may be due to the Online Volunteer Log, so she reiterated the need to keep a paper log.
- Report from LA Board of Directors- Doug Neely reported that the LA Board Corner will now be in the Principal’s Memo on a regular basis. The board has announced the candidates to fill the vacancy on the board. The election will be held by e-mail next week. The Executive Search committee has received resumes and applications for Principal from many qualified candidates. Interviews will be held on February 20, 2010. The Board of Directors will hold further interviews on February 27, 2010. The Board of Directors will vote for the new principal on March 8, 2010. The Facilities committee will be meeting with the architect to discuss some additional changes to the gym. The Academic Excellence committee will be meeting soon to finalize the Parent Satisfaction Survey. He addressed the financial stability of the school’s budget which was published in the Board Corner in last week’s Principal’s Memo. Lincoln Academy will be up for our Charter Renewal on February 4, 2010 at the Jeffco School Board meeting. Watch the Board Corner for time and location of the School Board meeting.
- Reports of Committees
- Grandparents’ Day- Overall it was a great success with well over 300 grandparents in attendance! Grace Reinheimer reported that there were some problems with the photographers. Mrs. Johnson has received several comments and suggestions from staff that will be passed on to the committee for their wrap-up meeting.
- Reading Emphasis Week- Miss Jelinek reported that Reading Emphasis will be different this year. Bandimere Speedway has a reading program that costs $200 for the entire school. The school will be provided with the necessary materials including decorations and prizes. This event ends in a Nights of Thunder event at Bandimere. The program is six weeks long and runs from March 22 – April 30. The night at the races will be May 15, 2010.
